Message from the Chairman of the Board of Directors
On April 1st, 2016, The Educational Foundation of Osaka Medical and Pharmaceutical University was established following the merger of the Educational Foundation of Osaka Medical College (including the Takatsuki Junior & Senior High Schools) , and the Educational Foundation of Osaka University of Pharmaceutical Sciences, making the foundation a comprehensive educational organization composed of secondary education and general medical university.
Our Foundation declares, in Article 3 of the Articles of Incorporation, "Following the Basic Act on Education, School Education Act and the Private Schools Act, our Corporation shall establish educational facilities, and by providing education, research and high quality medical care from an international perspective we shall foster human resources who will be able to contribute to the society of mankind and the development of culture". It is our mission to train high quality medical personnel who will be rich in humanitarian qualities, next generation leaders and talent for global human resources.
Osaka Medical College, established in 1927 as the first five-year medical school in Japan, has produced over 9500 high quality physicians in the last 90 years, and our nursing education with a similar history has produced over 4000 nurses.
In addition, Osaka University of Pharmaceutical Sciences, founded in 1904, with over 110 years of tradition and history, has sent approximately 20000 graduates into society, playing a central role in pharmaceutical education in Japan in a wide range of areas including hospitals, pharmacies, pharmaceutical manufacturers, government agencies, and educational institutions.
Since its establishment in 1940, Takatsuki Junior & Senior High School secondary institutions have faithfully pursued cohesive 6-year education and turned out over 14000 highly achieved students. In recent years, we have implemented unique curriculums based on Super Science High School (SSH) and Super Global High School (SGH) designated by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. From now on, we will be a co-educational institution to contribute to the realization of a gender-equal society as well as nurturing leaders and global human resources for the next generation.
Anticipating the changes in the population structure and the social conditions, our foundation, aims to train high quality medical personnel to be responsible for the next generation, as well as to establish an advanced medical system where medicine, pharmacy, and nursing will collaborate, working together to drive distinctive interdisciplinary education/research and team medical education. Building attractive universities to facilitate the ability of talented students to enter desired universities, our facilities will be the center of the community focused on education, research and medical care, aiming to develop the best general medical university and secondary education in Japan.
